Wranglers Lose Two to Puget Sound

Tough two games for the Wranglers. What was hoped to be a couple of wins, turned out to be a couple of losses.

Friday night (10/17) looked very promising for the Wranglers. The Wranglers scored the first goal, but then it was matched by Puget Sound (PS). In fact, PS matched the Wranglers goal for goal through two periods before moving ahead in the third period. I was really hoping for a win. Unfortunately it didn't happen. Congratulations to Purslow, Abera, newcomer Blase, and Riemersma for goals and assists to DJ, Nick, and Chance.

Of course, the Wranglers were playing with a short bench. Camden, PJ, Jesse and a few others weren't playing because of various reasons. So this made the game a little more tough for the other Wrangler players.

Saturday night (10/18) was ugly. The Wranglers appeared up for the game, but couldn't match the fire PS had burning within them. The Tomahawks were fired up. It seemed that Tessin, Behlorad, and Kaufman were everywhere and scoring. Again, the Wranglers were playing with a short bench, this time Purslow was off of the bench. As the game wore on the bench got shorter and shorter with Abera, Webster, and Chase getting penalties and being removed from the game. Each of these penalties were the result of cheap shots made by PS to Wrangler players. PS made the game very ugly by a bunch of stupid penalties and then the PS coach made it worse by his actions between the second and third periods getting kicked out. He didn't like the end of the 2nd period, and made it known. He threw a water bottle at the scorekeeper, and heartily chastised the refs. The only saving grace was that some of the rookies (Steiner, Miglioretto) came through playing their hearts out. In fact Miglioretto scored his first goal of the season the goal at 9:45 assisted by DJ and Aaron to avoid the shut out. If fans came to watch a fight they got to see plenty. I personally like to watch hockey instead.

So far it's turning out to be a tough season for the Wranglers, but I've got to have hope and faith that that soon they'll turn it around and start winning. To do that they've got to work on their offense. In the two games against PS they were out shot 2-1 (91 shots on goal for PS and only 45 for the Wranglers). This means they've got to shoot more on net, start passing it up through the neutral zone, and set up a scoring offense. C'mon Wranglers let's start scoring.
