- DJ Giguere, forward. Traded to the Helena Bighorns for a defensemen (see below).
- Nick Cafrelli, goalie. Traded to Seattle for a defenseman (see below).
- Chad Loera, forward. Released.
- Jared Secondo, goalie. Released.
- Jesse Martorano, forward. Injury.
New to the Wranglers roster are:
- Zach Miller, defense. Traded from Helena.
- Philip Harzelak, defense. Traded from Seattle - will have to wait until late November.
- Mike Teilborg, goalie. Traded from River City.
- Paul Blase, forward. Traded from River City.
- Steven McCormack, forward from Billings (acquired with Grant Long).
So, what other trades are in the works? Are the above "comings and goings" going to change the Wranglers into a winning team? I hope so.
Zach Marchand was one of the defensemen that was supposed to come from Helena for DJ Giguere, but he decided to quit rather than come to Medford. His loss not ours. Zach Miller is 6'0", 220 lbs. and played his 2007-08 season with the Colorado Outlaws of the WSHL (Western States Hockey League - Junior A, Tier III) and then played for the Helena Bighorns. While with the Bighorns he scored 4 goals, and 1 assist in 9 games. He's got good hockey sense and good puck handling skills. Next is Phil Harzelak from Seattle. In two games Phil has 1 goal and 1 assist. It is rumored that he is supposed to come to the Wranglers in late November. Zach and Phil (hopefully) will join current Wrangler defensemen Chase, Summa, Long, Webster, Vaitaitas, and Abera. Are there changes in this defensive lineup? Probably Abera will be returned to a forward. Heard that Webster wants to be traded.
As you know the Wranglers need to make some changes if they want to get out of the Pacific Division NorPac cellar. Do I believe they can do it? "Yassir, you betcha."
