Saturday Night is Hockey Night

Last night was hockey night at my house. Had the Sharks - Red Wings game on the TV, the Gens & T-Hawks on the computer, and trying to listen to the Jags and Titans. Now, that's being a hockey fan. First of all the Sharks - Wings game was good, real good. Probably one of the best games I've seen all season long. I'm not a Sharks fan or a Wings fan, but I do like to see Osgood get scored on, two break-away goals top shelf - sweet.

The Jags - Titans game was a good defensive battle. The Jags definitely have some intimidation factors going for them. Even though the Titans are fast, the Jags played the game by making hits, and throwing the Titans off their game. It was tied at the start of the 3rd, and there was no score in the 3rd. It went into overtime, and Abudakar scored 3:01 on Titans' Whitmore sealing the win 3-2. All evening long it seemed that the Jags would crash the net and there would be mass confusion. That's Jags hockey and it worked for them. They're now 1 game up on the Titans and 3 games up on the T-Hawks. The Jags have 3 more games against the Titans and 4 games against the T-Hawks. Every win or loss definitely counts.

The Gens - T-Hawks game was a good game too. The Gens won this one 3-1. The Gens scores came as the T-Hawks defense completely failed. Failed by missed player coverage, missed hits, or just out-skated, or all of the above. The T-Hawks are not going to get into the playoffs if the defense continues to make those kind of mistakes. Especially against a #1 or #2 playoff seed team. Otherwise I thought the T-Hawk forwards played well. There were lots of big hits, and of course the Generals doing lots of appeals to the ref. I finally had to turn off the sound, because the Generals announcer was continuously commenting "There's a penalty, there's a penalty, blah, blah, blah." And the dirty bird award goes to the Gen's Joe Myers for a head butt and game ejection. (Got a great note from the Generals game announcer - Chris Bilder. Hey, he's just a huge Generals fan that gets carried away. Thank you Chris, you do a great job at announcing - just a bit biased - but every game you get better and better at becoming not just a good announcer, but a great announcer.)

I started to recognize as I listened and watched to the various teams that against any one of them the Wranglers would have a tough time making a win. There was lots of crisp passing, cycling the puck, fast skating, shots, and big hits. I'm sorry but the Wranglers realistically don't have the talent to compete against these teams. Again, goals were made based on the other team's mistakes. The Wranglers just make too many mistakes, which could have turned into goals. But you know what? The Wranglers, good or bad are my team.
