Wranglers Announce Main Camp

Just recently posted on the Wranglers web site, was the announcement of the Wranglers Main Camp on August 6-9, 2009. What was disappointing was the announcement that said, "This season the Wranglers Main Camp will be Open Registration with minimal restrictions." Many teams have a "prospect camp" where prospective players can be evaluated and then invited to the main camp for final evaluation. The 'open registration' of this year's Wrangler Main Camp will be that anyone who thinks they are good enough to play Junior A Tier III hockey can pay their $175 and try out for the Wranglers. Although, the previous new Wrangler web post says, "These qualified individuals will be instrumental in ensuring that the Wranglers Main Camp is attended by a large group of high caliber players. The Wranglers also hope to bring in a larger number of players from different regions of the U.S. Overall, next season's crop of newcomers is shaping up to be the best yet." Hmm? I guess all we fans can say is, "We shall see." Rumors (always rumors to deal with) say, that the Wranglers will have very few returning players. So, once again the Wranglers will have another 'building year.'

There's still no word on who will 'skipper' the Wranglers this year. As such recruiting will be tough without a head coach. Hopefully this will get resolved before the Wranglers visit the major player showcases.

Finally, you will notice that "ajreis" posted several comments to several posts on the Wrangler blog. Just know, that "ajreis" is probably Josh Reis, Seattle Totems Head Scout/Asst. General Manager. The Wrangler blog appreciates Josh's comments. They were good comments per his perspective.
