Also many of the rumors posted here are just that - rumors. Rumor of a bailout? Rather the truth probably is the Wranglers continue to look for sponsors which are important to the business of successfully running the Wranglers. Rumor of AAA coaches? Maybe so, again the truth might be that while looking for a coach, a successful AAA coach was investigated or interviewed. I know of a couple AAA coaches that I believe would be great for the Wranglers. Rumor of no money for assistant coaches and trainers? A good business person considers everything to be "on the table," but is it realistic? I do believe this to NOT be a rumor... The Wranglers are working on the business of recruiting and building a new and better team for next season. I have "officially" heard from the Wranglers to "stay tuned" to some upcoming news and announcements. Stay tuned to the Wranglers website (http://www.roguevalleywranglers.com/) for news.
Your Wrangler curmudgeon will go "on record" that he has faith in Kevin's management of the Wranglers. (No, there's no connection or endorsement to make this comment, it was done by free will.) While of course nothing is done the way each one of us believes it should be done. Each one of us has our own ideas and solutions. What the Wrangler curmudgeon has noticed is that there's definitely hometown hockey politics in the Rogue Valley. In fact, it kind of resembles the on-going finger pointing and blame game of national politics. No matter what the Wranglers decide there's going to be somebody who will hide in the corners and say, "That's not what I would do. That's a dumb decision." And, anonymously they will post their displeasure or through rumors make their displeasure known.
Hometown hockey politics are not unique to the Wranglers. As a result there are several rumors floating around NorPac too. One is that the Coeur d'Alene Lakers will be taking a one year "hiatus" from fielding a team while the Lakers decide what to do. Supposedly there are several issues (rink, player, league, perhaps others). Another rumor is about the Seattle Totems. The Totems are reportedly having rink issues. There's just not enough time at Olympic View arena for them. The rumor is that they might move to another rink... SnoKing? And, there's rumor about the Puget Sound Tomahawks. Supposed late season reports that the Tomahawks were looking for a buyer. Rumors abound that the T-Hawks are broke and not going to be around for the 09-10 season. It is interesting to note that there are vicious rumors and reports of each team's demise within each team's community, not just within the Wranglers. Like the Don Henley song "Dirty Laundry..." "People love it when you lose; They love dirty laundry; Kick 'em when they're up; Kick 'em when they're down; Kick 'em all around."
Good luck to the Wranglers on their scouting efforts. I look forward to the upcoming news.
