Totems Gored By Bighorns

Pity the poor, hapless Seattle Totems losing to the Helena Bighorns in game #4 of the Cascade Cup Championship series. Like the month of March, the Totems started out like a lion, but went out like a lamb. Like I said in earlier posts, playing "goon hockey" just can't outdo skills. Helena is a team that played a consistent balanced attack all game long. The Bighorns have the talent and the skills and know how to use them. I listened to the game and it was clear that Helena clearly outplayed Seattle.

Okay, you say I'm biased? Well count the shots... 65 to 19 in favor of the Horns. That sounds like the Totes were outplayed by the Horns to me. Okay, still say I'm biased? How does 5 power play goals and one short-handed goal sound. Still think I'm biased? How 'bout looking look at the score... 10-3 in favor of the Horns. Hey Totes, how'd that can of Wup Ass taste? Yes, I am biased I just don't like the Totems and their style of goon hockey. So I'm happy with the result of the Totems losing not only the game but the Championship Series too.

What is Totems goon hockey? 52 penalty minutes in this game. Beede showing his class with a butt-ending game ejection. Patt and his usual class with a game ejection with a "Tier I - Gross Misconduct." The "little Prince" Schulze missing his final game of his NorPac career with his previous evening temper tantrum as did Galvin. That's Totems goon hockey. The Totems just seem to know how to dismantle themselves. The Totems goon hockey game plan is to get in the head of their opponents and then take advantage of mental miscues. Well like they say, "live by the sword die by the sword" and the Totems were done in by their own strategy. The Bighorns got in the Totems head and the Totes simply fell apart. Good job Horns!

Congratulations Helena Bighorns winning the Cascade Cup!
